International Mother Language Day, proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO on November 17, 1999, has been celebrated since 2000 annually on February 21, with the aim of promoting linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
On Friday, February 21, an international dictation was held in Bashkortostan in the languages of the peoples of the republic.
Residents will be able to write a dictation in six languages - Russian, Bashkir, Tatar, Chuvash, Udmurt, and Mari.
2020 is declared the Year of the Bashkir Language in the republic. Numerous events will be held in municipal districts and urban districts. Each month of the Year of the Bashkir Language will be devoted to a separate area. There will be thematic classes, workshops, and competitions.
