Kurultay of Bashkirs received grant to support compatriots abroad

This year, under the leadership of the World Kurultay of Bashkirs, a decision was made to support the activities of the Bashkir diaspora abroad through the pilot grant project "Culture Caravan" prepared by the "Vozrozhdenie" Foundation for the Support of the Bashkir people. The "Culture Caravan" became part of the joint project "Year of the Bashkir Language 2020" and was approved for funding by the Civil Society Assistance Fund of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The project aims, among other things, to assist the Bashkir diaspora in Uzbekistan in preserving their native language and culture.

According to the World Kurultay of Bashkirs, about 23 thousand Bashkirs live in Uzbekistan (the latest official census of 1989, the diaspora totaled 37.7 thousand people). The Bashkirs of Uzbekistan stay in touch with their historical homeland, are carriers of the Bashkir culture, values, language, humanitarian ties, and relations between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan.

The cultural and national association of Bashkirs — the Bashkir Social and Cultural Center, named after Zaki Validi was organized in June 1990 to preserve the Bashkir national culture, language, traditions. In 2020, the center celebrates its 30th anniversary. Together with the Tatar-Bashkir centers of the Bukhara, Kashkadarya, and Samarkand regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it preserves and develops the national language, customs, and traditions of the Bashkir people. The center has six creative groups, including the "Agidel" Bashkir folk group, the "Duslyk" Tatar-Bashkir creative association, the "Yashlek" Tatar-Bashkir ensemble, the "Laysan" Tatar-Bashkir ensemble, the "Sandugach" Bashkir ensemble, the "Salavat" drama club,  and the "Bashkortlar" family ethnic and cultural group.

“The cultural world” web portal is the only media to tell about Bashkir culture. It also highlights the achievements of famous people in the republic, tells about young artists.
