Bashkir Puppet Theater presented the updated premiere of the "Indian Legend"

Today, April 13 at the Bashkir State Puppet Theater premiered the play "Indian Legend".

The performance, performed in the 80s by the honored art workers of the Republic of Bashkortostan, chief director Pavel Melnichenko, artist Nail Baiburin and composer Andrei Berezovsky, returned to the repertoire of the puppet theater 30 years later.

The plot of the play is based on the ancient Indian epic "Ramayana", which tells of the struggle between good and evil, the confrontation of Rama's noble husband and the insidious villain Ravana.

The idea of the revival of the play arose more than 5 years ago, and in 2014 the troupe restored one of the scenes of the "Indian legend". After the successful display of Scenes in the Forest at the Indian Embassy, the troupe was invited to India, where she performed in 2015.

After the trip, the leadership decided that the play should be returned to the repertoire, so last year began an active training: repairing dolls, updating fabrics, replacing decorations.

"Along with the need to modernize the performance, we tried to preserve the authenticity of the structure and its basic concept, I think that the viewers, especially those who are not indifferent to the East, will like the production," said restoration artist Andrei Volkov.

It should be noted that the epic "Ramayana" in the interpretation of Paul Melnichenko was awarded the international prize named after Jawaharlar Nehru and gratitude for the strengthening of Indian-Soviet friendship. The Bashkir State Puppet Theater became the only Russian theater laureate of this prize.

People's Artist of the Republic of Belarus Olga Sharafutdinova, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Volkov, choreographer Alfiya Kuryaeva worked on the new edition of the legendary performance, which is the "golden fund" of the theater.

"Thanks to the fact that the actors, entering the stage, put their whole soul into the production, you look at each performance for the first time - everything is so sincere and with great love for the cause," noted the choreographer Alfiya Kuryaeva.

The renewed version of the "Indian legend" was enriched with Indian dance numbers. Artists learned more than ten dances: classical interludes of Bharata-natya and mass scenes in the style of Bollywood.

The production also included a choral episode.

According to the director of the restoration of Olga Sharafutdinova, a lot of young and talented artists arrived in the theater, which brought new voices and new energy to the play.

"Indian legend" surprised the viewer with the extraordinary "liveliness" of dolls, which in the play involved more than thirty. The beauty of costumes and scenery, the skill of performance and the bewitching voices of the artists did not leave a single guest indifferent. The best present on the day of the long-awaited premiere for the troupe of the Bashkir State Puppet Theater was a stormy ovation of spectators.

The re-run of the performance will be held tomorrow, April 14 at 18:00. Honorary guests of the theater will be representatives of the youth of India.
