Bashkir Opera is preparing production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin

The Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater is staging the "Eugene Onegin" opera by P.I. Tchaikovsky. The lyric opera is based on the poetic novel by A.S. Pushkin.

The production of the "Eugene Onegin" opera will be the eighth in a row in the history of Bashkir Opera Theater. The previous one took place in 1999 when the well-known Russian conductor and teacher Fuat Mansurov was the conductor and stage director.

Previous productions of Eugene Onegin on the Ufa stage took place in 1939 (director Bulat Imashev), 1941 (director Nikolai Smolich), 1943 (director Konstantin Rushev), 1953 (director Sergei Lemeshev), 1960 (director Anatoly Bakaleinikov), 1980 (director Valery Bityutskikh), 1999 (director Fuat Mansurov).

Soloists of the troupe Olesya Mezentseva, Olesya Khusnutdinova, and Galina Cheplakova ( Tatiana), Yan Leishe, and Salavat Kiekbaev (Eugene Onegin), Lyubov Butorina, Katerina Leishe and Ekaterina Kulikova (Olga), Ilgam Valiev and Orfeyev (Vladimir Lensky) will perform the lead parts.

The production of the play was entrusted to the young director Laysan Safargulova. For her, this work in the theater will be a debut as a production director. The production designer is the theater's chief designer, Ivan Skladchikov, who is known for his bright, spectacular works in the Attila opera, the ballets "The Little Humpbacked Horse" and "Neighbors. 1418".

The Eugene Onegin opera production is funded by a grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
