The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater presented Don Quixote in Italy

On the eve, in Genoa (Italy) in the theater of Carlo Felice within the framework of the festival "Russian Seasons" the tours of the Bashkir State Theater of Opera and Ballet were completed. The troupe presented the ballet "Don Quixote" by Ludwig Minkus in the choreography of Yuri Grigorovich.

Unlike the novel by Cervantes, the protagonists of the ballet production are the daughter of innkeeper Kitri and her beloved Basil, who defend their love, and the knight of the sad image of Don Quixote and his faithful squire Sancho Panza help them.

The premiere of the production took place in 1995 and is one of the most famous performances of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater.

Invitation to the youngest in Russia ballet troupe of the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater (average age of artists - 19.5 years) to participate in the festival "Russian Seasons" is not accidental. The history of the ballet group, formed in 1941, is closely connected with the Leningrad Ballet School, when the first graduates of the national studio formed the core of the future ballet troupe. For many years the ballet troupe of the Bashkir Opera was replenished by the graduates of the Academy of Russian Ballet. Today in its repertoire billboard there are more than 30 titles of plays by domestic and foreign composers.

The current tour in Italy is not the first for the ballet troupe of the theater. Earlier the collective already presented its productions on the best stages of the Apennine peninsula. Among them are Giselle Adana, Swan Lake and Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker.
