In 2020, the International Educational Campaign "Great Ethnographic Dictation" will be held for the fifth time. The Dictation is held online from November 3 to 8, 2020.

The Dictation allows assessing the level of ethnographic literacy of the population and their knowledge of Russia's peoples. It draws the attention of the general public to issues of interethnic peace and harmony.

Anyone from Russia and foreign countries can participate in the Dictation. This year the official website and tasks of the Dictation will be translated into English and Spanish.

The assignments will be published at 00.01 on November 3, 2020 (Moscow time) on the official website of the Great Ethnographic Dictation. They are designed as a test and include the federal part of the Dictation, which is equal for all participants (20 questions), and the regional part, which is unique for each subject of the Russian Federation (10 questions). The maximum amount of points for completing all tasks is 100. This year, participants will have an opportunity to check the correct answer at once and receive historical information with links to sources.

The Dictation time is 45 minutes. Then, access to tasks will be closed. A participant certificate indicating the results is generated immediately after taking the Dictation in electronic form.

Over the years, about 1,200,000 people from 46 countries took part in the Dictation.
