Faizi Gaskarov Ensemble will perform at "Orenburg Shawl" festival

The Faizi Gaskarov State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble will take part in the 33rd All-Russian festival of professional folk art "Orenburg shawl".

The team from Bashkortostan will present the "Dances of the Nations" program on the stage of the Orenburg Philharmonic Society today, on February 24.

The audience will see the classics of Bashkir choreography: the famous dance "Seven Girls". The images of ancient legends will also remind us of "Koralai" — "The White Doe" staged by Rif Gabitov, the national dance-game "Hunting for the Golden Eagle" by Ildus Khabirov.

Among the new productions of the ensemble is the choreographic composition "Rus" by Alexei Shishkin. In the second part of the concert, the collective will present a bright program of dances of the nations: the Turkmen dance "With a Carpet", the youth dance of the Yoshkar-Ola Mari, the Kyrgyz festive dance, the Kalmyk "Chicherdyk" and the Ukrainian "Gopak".

The festival of professional folk art "Orenburg Shawl" has been held annually since 1988. Lyudmila Zykina, People's Artist of the USSR, became the initiator of its establishment.

This year the festival is held from February 22 to 28 and is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of the USSR Grigory Ponomarenko.

The concert program will be attended by guests of the festival — the Faizi Gaskarov State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble and the Ural State Academic Russian Folk Choir.
