Moscow Dance Theater "Gzhel" will perform at the opening ceremony of the Folkloriada.
The Moscow State Academic Dance Theater "Gzhel" will take part in the VI CIOFF® World Folkloriada. A group of world-class dancers will perform at the opening ceremony of the festival on July 3 at the Ufa-Arena Ice Palace. The Gzhel Dance Theater has long been a cultural hallmark of Moscow. Its artists using the language of dance tell about the original Russian tradition of painting, revealing its spirit and beauty in the movement. Guests of the Folkloriada will be able to see how the creations of folk craftsmen, such as Gzhel, Palekh, Zhostovo and Pavlovo Posad patterns come to life on the stage. The Moscow State Academic Dance Theater "Gzhel" was founded in 1988 by the famous choreographer, People's Artist of Russia, Professor Vladimir Zakharov to mark the 650th anniversary of the existence of one of the most recognizable native Russian crafts – gzhel. In 1993, the theater became state-owned, and in 1999 - received academic status. The cultural material, folk themes and images collected by Vladimir Zakharov throughout Russia formed the basis for many dances and song-and-dance pictures.
