On the eve of the pop jazz orchestra of the Bashkir State Philharmonic named after H. Akhmetov under the management of Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Oleg Kasimov took part in cultural events in the cities of Yaroslavl, Moscow and Naberezhnye Chelny. The trip was carried out in the framework of the anniversary events of the festival “EDO - the flagship of Bashkir jazz”.

On October 6, the Big Band of the BGF performed at the Gala Concert of the finalists of the III International Open Vocal Jazz Contest and Festival "Jazz Birds - 2018", which was held in the Concert and entertainment hall "Millennium" of Yaroslavl. The founder of the competition is the Russian jazz singer Lyudmila Svarovskaya, who is well known to the Ufa public.

On October 7, a gala concert of members of the jury of the Jazz Birds competition was held in Moscow. Jazz singers of Russia and the world Karina Kozhevnikova, Sofia Rubina-Hunter, Joander Santos, Lyudmila Svarovskaya and Anna Buturlina, participants of the Voice project Mariam Merabova and Katerina Balykbayeva, the owner of two Grammy, pianist Benito Gonzales and others.

On the initiative and with the support of Lyudmila Svarovskaya, a joint CD of the singer and the Ufa orchestra was recorded in the studio of the Mosfilm cinema concern. It includes jazz standards, arrangements to which were written by Oleg Kasimov himself and ex-leader of the Kazan big band Azat Bayazitov, currently living in New York.

The final event of the tour was the performance of the Pop-Jazz Orchestra of the Bashkir Philharmonic Society in the Organ Hall of Naberezhnye Chelny in honor of the Republican Mechanical Engineer Day. In this regard, a new program was prepared with Tatar vocalists, among them Elmira Kalimullina, Ilyus Khuzin, Aydar Suleymanov, Gulnara Baynazarova, Irken Mustafin, Elsa and Artur Islamov and others. The concert featured popular songs and arias from musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge, the film The Fifth Element.

“This trip was not an easy exam for our team: the orchestra participated in four events, different not only in their stylistic direction, but also in geographical location. A gala concert and a jam session, recording at the studios of a huge jazz material and complex concert numbers on our instrumental base. Significantly replenished their repertoire luggage, made many creative friends for the prospect of joint performances. The trip was intense and productive, ”notes EDO artistic director Oleg Kasimov.

Recall that the festival dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the creative activity of the Pop-Jazz Orchestra of the Civil Front, continues. Ufa residents and guests of the capital will be able to attend the anniversary concert of the group “EDO - 20! Not only jazz, in which the leading Russian and foreign soloists and groups will take part. The event will be held on November 18 in the State Concert Hall "Bashkortostan".
