In the direct inclusion program:
ETUDES
Music by Carl Czerny
The choreography of Harald Lander
Duration 45 min.
"Etudes" embody everything that a spectator loves in ballet: dancers in white packs, white-tie dancers, lyrical duets and bravura solos, incredible virtuosity of the dance, familiar music and a powerful life-affirming final tutti. It is said that the choreographer Harald Lander, who took the exercises of daily exercise and the piano Etudes of Cherni as a basis for ballet, used for teaching piano playing technique, did not pretend to preserve his authorship. Nevertheless, this ballet is known exactly as "Lander's Etudes", and the appearance of it in the playbill makes the heart of any balletoman beat more often.
CELL
Composer Igor Stravinsky (Basel Concerto for String Orchestra in D major)
Costume Designer Ruth Sobotka
Lighting Designer Jennifer Tipton
Scenery by Jean Rosenthal
Duration 13 minutes.
The ballet "Cage" was staged by the great American choreographer Jerome Robbins for a long time, in 1951, nevertheless, the name of this ballet is not an antiquarian for anybody will turn his tongue - he rightfully takes his place in the Evening of Modern Choreography. This ballet for the music from Stravinsky's string concert is a short and very extravagant sketch about the initiation of very young girls who are just discovering the possibilities of their body. "Cage" does not often appear on the stages of the world, and it is almost impossible to find it in the record, so to see it is a rare fortune.
RUSSIAN SEASONS
Choreography: Alexei Ratmansky
The conductor - Igor Dronov
Costume Designer - Galina Solovyova
Lighting Designer - Mark Stanley
The artist on the adaptation of the design of light design - Sergey Shevchenko
Assistant choreographer-director - Jennifer Reiner Fayette, Jan Godowski, Anastasia Yatsenko
Duration 45 min.
"Russian Seasons" Ratmansky, put in strict accordance with the Western idea of the contemporary plotless ballet, in fact, is a real hymn to the Slavic ethnic theme. In many respects it is the merit of Leonid Desyatnikov's music, complex, nervous, bright, drunkenly cheerful and mournfully tragic and completely mesmerizing. Dances and costumes, the mood of artists on stage fully correspond to the mood in music. "Slavonic fusion", an incredible mixture of ancient rituals and modern plastics - a combination as unusual, and so attractive. Each part of this bright graphic ballet is associated with a certain moment of the Orthodox or traditional agricultural calendar. The modern viewer is unlikely to be able to solve them all, but the pleasure of the performance will not spoil it. "The most patriotic and most piercing ballet in modern Russian history" is worth watching itself.
