Today, February 21, International Mother Language Day is celebrated around the world. It was established in 1999 at the initiative of the 30th session of the General Conference of UNESCO and is held annually with the common goal of promoting linguistic diversity and multilingual education.

On the eve of the school number 23 of the city of Ufa of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republican holiday was held within the framework of the International Mother Language Day. The organizers of the holiday were the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the House of Friendship of the Peoples of the Republic of Bashkortostan, School of Youth Education of the city of Ufa.
