Pavel Salmasov was born on March 25, 1930 in the village of Rudakovo in the Cherepovets district of the Vologda region of the RSFSR. In 1953 he graduated from the art department of the Bashkir Theater and Art College (now - the art department of the Ufa Art College). Since 1957 he has been a participant in republican, decade, zonal, regional, interregional, all-Russian, all-Union, international and foreign exhibitions. Since 1961 he is a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (RF).
 
The name of Pavel Petrovich Salmasov occupies a worthy place among prominent masters of Bashkir and Russian art. His work is a symbol of imperishability of those spiritual ideals that MV Nesterov, the oldest masters of the republic, KS Devletkildeev and AE Tulkin, claimed in our art, rich pictorial traditions peculiar to the Bashkir school.
 
For a long time there was an assessment of Pavel Salmasov's work as an artist who works fruitfully in various types and genres of fine arts.
