Young people, students and everyone who addresses the problems of fine arts for the first time, is addressed to a short course in the history of Russian art. The material of the lectures demonstrates a special selection of the material, conscious lacunas are made, since the objectives of the course are to focus its attention on the most important phenomena in the domestic art culture, reflecting the main problems of the time. During the lectures the basic milestones of its development are traced, the characteristics of individual art forms are shown, which are alternated with small monographic essays on the works of the famous masters Andrei Rublev, Alexander Ivanov, Ilya Repin, Vasily Surikov, Valentin Serov, Mikhail Vrubel, Mikhail Nesterov and many others.
