Today, on the eve of Victory Day celebrations, a musical and poetic concert was held on the square in front of the State Concert Hall "Bashkortostan". The National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus in the open air, in the very center of Ufa, was performed by Dmitry Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony, better known as “Leningradskaya”.

A charity concert dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 75th anniversary of the breakthrough of the blockade of Leningrad was organized in honor of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, residents of besieged Leningrad.

The symphony was first performed on August 9, 1942 in the Great Hall of the Leningrad Philharmonic in besieged Leningrad.

The history of the creation of the work, its rehearsals and performances have become a legend. This event became for the besieged city a symbol of hope for victory. This music gave hope to besieged Leningrad. Classical musical performance was accompanied by excerpts from diaries and prose, memories of the creative intelligentsia.

The conductor of the State Academic Symphonic Capella of Russia and the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia Dmitry Kryukov again stood at the console of the orchestra.

    “We hope that we will give people sincere emotions on the eve of a great holiday. As always, we quickly found contact with the orchestra, of course, it is pleasant for musicians to play this music. I will not lie if I say that this symphony sounded a long time ago in the performance of the NSO RB, ”Dmitry told us.

According to the IO General Director of the National Orchestra, Honored Artist of Bashkortostan Arthur Naziullin, such a format of concerts helps to reach a more diverse audience.

    “We can also observe a new audience, which until then was not familiar with the symphony orchestra. Making open-airs in this weather is a great idea. And this concert is an event for our orchestra - Shostakovich’s Seventh Symphony is performed not so often by us, ”Artur Iskandarovich noted.

Spectators, among whom were veterans, schoolchildren, and townspeople, applauded the musicians between parts of the symphony, and by the end of the concert, ovations were heard outside the main street of Ufa.
