From March 18 to 19, 2017 in Ufa, with the support of the Grant of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the IX All-Russian competition-festival of children's choirs "Choir Rainbow" named after Shavkat Bikmukhametov will take place.

The competition-festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Bashkir composers Zagir Ismagilov and Rafik Salmanov.

Within the framework of the event, the regional stage of the All-Russian Choral Festival will be held, announced by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the All-Russian Choral Society.

More than 60 children's choral groups (more than 2,000 children) will take part in the contest-festival in the categories "Amateur academic and folk choirs", "Academic and folk choirs" in different age categories.

 The festival "Choral rainbow" began to be held in Ufa since 2001 and initially covered general education schools. The ideological inspirer, organizer and permanent chairman of the festival jury was Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Professor Shavkat Minulovich Bikmukhametov, who headed the Music Society of the Republic of Bashkortostan for that period. In 2008, on the initiative of the leaders of choral collectives and organizers, the competition-festival was named after Shavkat Bikmukhametov.

The competition-festival is held with the purpose of preserving and developing the traditions of choral singing, improving performing skills, developing spiritual and patriotic qualities in children and teenagers. It takes place every two years and today choirs of general and music schools, as well as other institutions of additional education for children take part in it.

The jury of the contest-festival in 2017 will be headed by the honored art worker of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan, the holder of the medal of the Order "For Services to the Fatherland of the II degree", Professor Rizal Bikmukhametov. The jury will include well-known choirmasters, including - the assistant professor of Moscow State Pedagogical University, choirmaster of the Synodal Choir O.B. Ushakova, vice-rector for educational and educational work, head of the choral conducting department of the UGI them. Z.
