The Academy was established in the Mariinsky Theater in 1998. The Academy is headed by Larisa Gergiev, a well-known figure in musical art, a vocal accompanist and a world famous teacher, NA Rimsky-Korsakov and a jury member of many prestigious international opera singers competitions, artistic director of the International Summer Academy in Mikkeli.
 
It is impossible to imagine the musical life of St. Petersburg without concerts of vocal music performed by the soloists of the Academy of Young Singers of the Mariinsky Theater. Their performances at the Mariinsky Theater, in the Bolshoi and Maly Halls of the Philharmonic, at the Yusupov Palace, the Museum-Apartment of F.I. Chaliapin, the Hermitage Theater, as well as other prestigious venues of the city have long been a good tradition. Posters of concerts with the names of soloists of the Academy can be found in many cities of Russia, near and far abroad. The Moscow Easter Festival is Russia's largest music forum, which annually attracts hundreds of thousands of listeners.
