Today, Ufa hosted the grand opening of the Valerian Albanov Museum of Polar Explorers, timed to coincide with the 139th anniversary of the birth of the famous native of our republic and the transfer of the chairmanship of the Arctic Council to Russia.
It is symbolic that the museum opens on the birthday of the legendary man, Arctic explorer and polar explorer Valerian Albanov. Next to the museum is the house where he lived.
Radiy Khabirov, the Head of the Republic, said that in March 2019, a group of famous people throughout Russia addressed him with a letter, including the legendary polar explorer Arthur Chilingarov, writer Mikhail Chvanov, members of a group searching for the remains of the schooner and traces of the expedition of the two captains.
"Another point of attraction for tourists has appeared in Ufa, I congratulate everyone on this wonderful event," Radiy Khabirov said.
At the opening ceremony, the Head of the Republic awarded the Order of Aksakov to one of the initiators of the museum's creation, head of the branch of the Aksakov memorial house-museum, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation and RB Mikhail Chvanov.
A welcoming address to the ceremony participants was sent by the deputy of the State Duma of Russia, oceanologist, doctor of geographical sciences, professor Artur Chilingarov.
Radiy Khabirov left an entry in the book of honored guests after inspecting the exposition of the polar museum:
"We pay tribute to the memory and respect to all those who developed the Arctic and dedicated with their lives, deeds, heroism to it".
The exposition of the museum has over a hundred artifacts and various exhibits. The largest of them is the 19th century Admiralty anchor, which has already become a new art object in Ufa. Also, the museum has created specialized premises — a cinema and a saloon for cultural and educational events and masterclasses.
It can be noted that the exposition brought together all the preserved objects of the scientific and historical memory of the life and campaigns of Albanov and his team. Schoolchildren with parents and teachers will be able to visit the museum free of charge.
It is planned to organize field seminars in schools of Ufa and the republic with a demonstration of a small field exhibition and a digital museum.
