From November 10 to November 12, a creative laboratory of modern drama and directing was held at the GARDT of Belarus. 8 young directors from all over the country prepared 4 sketches for 4 days in order to present them to theater critics and audiences. The material chosen for the sketches is very diverse: from Sukhovo-Kobylin and Dostoevsky to plays that recently came out of the dramatists ’pen. Today, on the extreme day of the show, sketches were presented for the plays by Yaroslav Pulinovich “The Land of Elzy”, Slawomir Mrozhek “The Widows” and Nanni Moretti “The Room of the Son”. After each sketch there was a joint discussion of productions with theater critics. The viewers, after viewing, were asked to vote for the most liked performance.

Almost the entire theater troupe is involved in the laboratory. The directors noted that it is easy to create with the artists of the Russian Drama Theater, to find a common language.

According to the Moscow critic, Vladislava Kuprina at such events the theater has the opportunity to find a director, and young directors have the opportunity to work with new artists with interesting material. “It’s risky to invite a director without knowing him, and the laboratory gives you the opportunity to find the right one for your theater. Artists, by the way, are worthy of all praise, I am a second time in your theater, and I never cease to rejoice in it”.

The young director from St. Petersburg Igor Lebedev notes that in 4 days he and the actors did a great job, and the troupe is no different in quality from the capital. “I finally worked with the material I had been going for a long time. It is symbolic, of course, to bring Dovlatov to Ufa, here we worked on his “Compromise”. There were discussions with artists, critics, I received feedback, now I know in which direction to develop. This is a great professional experience, thanks to the theater”, - said Igor.
