Today, on the stage of the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater, the premiere of the one-act ballet “What the stones are silent about” was held as part of the “Nureyev Days” project, and choreographic miniatures “Bashkir Legends” were presented.

The ballet “About What the Stones Are Silent” presents to viewers the distant events of the Paleolithic era, which took place in a cave that holds rare specimens of rock art. According to the ballet master Rinat Abushakhmanov, the ancient stones are the keepers of unsolved truths and they are able to tell new legends about Shulgan-Tash.

Music for a ballet based on the Shulgan-Tash cave history was written by Nikolai Popov, who, together with choreographer Rinat Abushakhmanov, created a script based on stories and dialogues with research consultant Vladislav Zhitenev, an archaeologist, a doctor of historical sciences, an associate professor at Moscow State University.

The ethno-group “Yatagan” is involved in the music recording, in the ballet electro-acoustic music is played using authentic instruments. Also used are recordings of throat singing and playing in Kubyz of the Virtuoso-Cubist of the World by Robert Zagretdinov. Photographer Oleg Menkov took part in the design of the visual series of the play. Video artist - laureate of the Golden Mask Award in the nominations “The Best Performance in Contemporary Dance”, “The Best Work of the Lighting Designer” (2015) Evgeny Afonin. The art director of the premiere performance is Fania Nizamova.

The authors believe that based on the research work, they managed to present a new version of the secrets of the art of the Stone Age. Ballet master Rinat Abushakhmanov believes that the famous cave frescoes Shulgan-Tash are not only a reflection of the scenes of everyday life of primitive man, but the story of how the artist lived and worked in the ancient world. According to the ballet creators, Shulgan-Tash is one of the places where art originated, and the first creator, painter was a young and beautiful girl who gave descendants mysterious images of the ancient world. Today, the image of this girl on the stage was embodied by the winner of the Russian competition named after E. Maksimova, Sofia Gafryushina. The leader of the tribe was presented by Airat Mesegutov, the priest - Honored Artist of Bashkortostan Andrei Bryntsev.

In the second part, the young dancers of the theater and the Choreographic College named after R. Nureyev presented six choreographic miniatures. Many of them were created during the Rudy Dance Lab, which was held at the theater last year. Both the Bashkir folk “Bayas” and “Uralim” sounded, as well as the music of Hosa Kohle, Nikolay Popov and Felix Layko.

Also today, flowers were laid at the memorial bas-relief of Rudolf Nureyev. Laying flowers on the birthday of an outstanding ballet dancer has become a good tradition of the theater.
