Шакур Рашит

Rashit Shakur (Rashit Zakirovich Shakurov) was born on the 11th of January, 1937 in the village of Novo-Abdrakhman, Alshey region, Bashkortostan. He was educated at the Bashkir State University, the post graduate school of the USSR Academe of Sciences Institute of Linguistics in Moscow. He is a Candidate of Philology.

His first collection of poetry “The Sun in My Heart” was published in 1970. In his poetic collections “my Mountains”, “My Steppes” (1982), “On the Roads of Time” (1988), “Malin-city” (1997) he expressed his great pride of his native people, revealed historical roots of Bashkir people.

He works in the genres of poetry, publicism. He is one of the investigators of creative activities of the Bashkir poet – Enlightener M.Akmulla. He published the collection of essays «Famous Bashkirs” (1997). He also published “Topographical Dictionary of the Bashkir ASSR” (1980) and is one of co-authors of history of Bashkir Literature” (1991-1996).
