Янаби Тухват

Tukhaft Yanabi (Tukhfatulla Kalimullovich Kalimullin) was born on the 14thof February, 1894in the village of Yanabi, Miyaki region, Bashkortostan. He was educated at Muslim Schools of Sterlibash, Orenburg and the University named after Sverdlov in Moscow.

He came to literature in the 1920s. He worked in the genres of prose. In his collections of poems “The Joy of Labour” (1926), “Winding Ways” (1930). “Singing Strings” (1930), “The Land of Winners” (1935) the poet glorifies the advantages of socialist collective farming; he introduced new stylistic tendencies into Bashkir poetic epos close to monumental forms of V.Mayakovsky. In his numerous stories the writer ridicules the survivals of the past.
 

T.Yanabi is one of the victims of Stalinist purges of 1937. He was rehabilitated after the personality cult exposure.
